Beta Versions

Beta for Minecraft 1.5.1

Beta is now the official release.

IMPORTANT UPGRADE NOTES:

  • NO DOWNGRADE POSSIBLE! Upgrading a world to this version is final, you can't go back!
  • The following machines will cease to exist on upgrade: All old planters and harvesters, the forester, the automatic treetap.
  • Make sure you have all your Forestry machines placed before upgrading. Machines in item form in your inventory or in chests will vanish! Just place them somewhere temporarily to keep them. Sorry about that, can't be avoided unfortunately.

Known Issues

  • Habitat locator is non-functional.

What's new?

  • 5 new bee species.
  • 8 new tree species.
  • Added the bee house as a low level alternative to the apiary.
  • Trunk size on trees can now be inherited. That 3×3 cherry tree is now possible!
  • Added the clockwork engine.
  • Added vanilla hopper support to all machines and engines.
  • Internal changes to several machines to improve performance and some interaction with other mods.
  • Raintank is now an unpowered machine.
  • Bottler now uses the liquid dictionary to dynamically populate its recipe list.
  • Seed oil output has been rebalanced, reducing it further on easily obtainable seeds.
  • Several changes to the default traits of several tree species.
  • Sapling yield in the fermenter has changed. The amount of biomass produced from a single sapling is now determined by the sappiness trait on it. Saplings without genetic information are treated as though they have lowest sappiness.
  • Adapted to new vanilla bonemeal behaviour for saplings.
  • Added squeezable lemons and plums. (Sprites for both by Xizzzy.)
  • Apple juice is now fruit juice.
  • Increased the guaranteed drop from apatite by 1. Reduced the minimum world height required for apatite to spawn to 56.
  • Reduced power requirements for farms a bit.
  • Reduced fertilizer requirements on some of the more basic farms, including arboretum.
  • Changed humus degradation behaviour. Now only degrades over time instead of on-growth of a tree.
  • Drastically increased the potential generations artificial princesses (“swarmer princesses”) can reproduce before genetic fatigue sets in.
  • All work and no play makes the queen a dull girl: Forcing a queen to produce way too fast or trying too hard to mutate her may result in undesireable consequences. (Note: Only applies to outside factors, not to factors inherent in the queen's genetic makeup.)
  • Minor improvements to treealyzer and to sapling tooltips.

New Trees

7 entirely new trees and a refresh for pine trees. Each with their own logs, planks, fences, stairs and slabs. Four new fruits in total.

Bee House

The bee house is a new, low-level alternative to the apiary. It is crafted by simply encasing any honey comb (which can drop randomly from naturally occuring bee hives) in any wooden planks and slabs:

Due to its crude nature, you cannot add frames to a bee house, so it will always have its base attributes. Since it offers only a provisional shelter, you are also missing out on any mutation chances you may have with bees and no pipe or similar contraption can connect to it.

Modifier Bee House Apiary Alveary
Territory 1.0 1.0 2.0
Production 0.25 0.1 - 0.8 1.0
Mutation 0.0 1.0 1.0
Lifespan 3.0 1.0 1.0
Pollination 0.5 1.0 1.0

Clockwork Engine

Just click a few times to wind it up. (Engine's trunk will turn red when it's fully wound up.)

Alveary Stabiliser

A new alveary component utilizing the calming effects inherent in quartz to stabilize the genome of bees. When added to an alveary this will prevent any mutation from occuring and negate all mutation boosts. Recombination of alleles is still possible, however no new species can appear in the alveary.

Fermentation Change

As noted above, saplings in the fermenter won't give the current amount (800 mB) anymore. The base yield of saplings is reduced to 250 mB. However the genetic trait sappiness now affects the yield dramatically.

Found on Factor Yield
Lowest Vanilla 1.0 250 mB
Lower Balsa, Larch, Pine, Lime, Chestnut, Walnut, others 2.0 500 mB
Low Cherry, Kapok, Ebony, Mahogany, Willow, others 3.0 750 mB
Average Lemon, Plum 4.0 1000 mB
High Mahoe 6.0 1500 mB
Higher n/a (yet) 8.0 2000 mB
Highest n/a (yet) 10.0 2500 mB

(All absolute values are given for default (EASY) difficulty.)
